TL;DR: Be respectful, be honest, don't spam. Helpers are volunteers — no guarantees. We can remove accounts that violate these rules.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the OpenIntro platform at openintro.me (the "Service"), operated by OpenIntro ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and have a valid LinkedIn account to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Account and Authentication

  • You sign in using LinkedIn OAuth. We do not store your LinkedIn password.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your session and devices.
  • You agree to provide accurate information and keep your profile current.
  • You may not create multiple accounts or impersonate another person.

3. How the Service Works

OpenIntro connects people seeking professional introductions ("talents") with people willing to help ("champions").

  • Champions voluntarily list what they can help with (referrals, mentorship, introductions, etc.)
  • Talents browse champions and send structured introduction requests
  • Champions choose whether to accept or decline each request at their sole discretion
  • Notifications — you may receive in-app and email notifications about requests, messages, and platform updates

OpenIntro facilitates connections but does not guarantee any outcome — including but not limited to job offers, investments, partnerships, or any other professional opportunity.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service respectfully and lawfully. You may not:

  • Send spam, harassing, or inappropriate requests
  • Use the Service for recruiting, sales pitches, or unsolicited commercial outreach
  • Scrape, crawl, or automatically collect data from the Service
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or private data
  • Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or intentions
  • Use the platform to discriminate against any person based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or any protected characteristic
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or attempt to compromise the Service's security

5. Content and Intellectual Property

  • You retain ownership of content you create on the Service (profile information, messages, etc.)
  • By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to display your profile and offerings to other authenticated users
  • The OpenIntro name, logo, and website design are our intellectual property
  • You may not copy, modify, or distribute the Service or its content without permission

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

7. Champion Responsibilities

If you sign up as a champion:

  • You are under no obligation to accept any request
  • You should only list offerings you can genuinely fulfill
  • You acknowledge that helping is voluntary and unpaid
  • You may remove your profile or deactivate offerings at any time

8. Talent Responsibilities

If you send introduction requests as a talent:

  • Be respectful and concise in your requests
  • Requests are limited to 5 per week to prevent spam
  • Do not send multiple requests to the same person
  • Accept "no" gracefully — helpers have no obligation to respond or accept
  • Provide accurate information about yourself and your intentions

9. No Guarantees

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding:

  • The availability, reliability, or accuracy of the Service
  • The quality, accuracy, or reliability of any user's information
  • Any outcome resulting from connections made through the Service

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenIntro and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service shall not exceed $100 USD.

11. Termination

  • You may stop using the Service at any time by logging out
  • You may request account deletion by emailing privacy@openintro.me
  • We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms
  • Upon termination, your profile will be removed from public view

12. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Israel.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
